1. Experience Counts – Beware “Supervising Doctors”
Insist on a physician. You will want an injector who has done a lot of injections in that particular area of the face. Physicians are well versed in facial anatomy and are experienced in dealing with the rare, but possible, side effects.
If a medical spa or salon claims to have a “supervising doctor” on staff, make sure he or she is the one administering the injections. Quite often, the supervising doctor has little to do with daily operations, so be sure to read the fine print.
2. Don’t Shop by Price Alone
Groupons can be great, but not when it comes to cosmetic injections. You can price shop to an extent, but you’ll pay more for injectables administered by a more experienced doctor.
Take the time to find a physician whose work looks natural for any age. Doctors inject differently for each patient based on individual characteristics. There’s no such thing as “One Size Fits All.”
3. Don’t Be Shy – Communicate with Your Doctor
Good communication is essential in making your injectable experience the best that it can be with optimal results. Be clear about what bothers you about your face. Ask your doctor about pain, recovery, and when to have your next treatment.
