The removal process begins with a complimentary consultation where we assess the size of your tattoo, evaluate your skin tone, and measure the color and depth of the ink.
We’ll then determine the number of treatments. The cost is about the same as a traditional laser removal treatment; however, fewer sessions are needed, so the overall cost is lower.
PicoSure™ erases unwanted ink colors — like those stubborn dark blues and greens — more effectively than other older methods and can also remove previously treated tattoos as well.
Desired results are attainable with fewer treatments and without injury to the skin. And, depending on the complexity of your tattoo, you may see some initial fading even after the first treatment.
Well, we’d be lying if we said it didn’t. Fact is, your tattoo hurt going on … and it’s going to hurt coming off. HOWEVER, there are several things we do that will ease the pain, including numbing creams. The good news: each session becomes less and less painful. And treatments are really short — anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes, depending on the size of the tattoo. Our clients tell us it’s well worth it — and that Picosure is MUCH less painful than the old methods of tattoo removal.
At your first treatment appointment, we numb the tattoo area. Our PicoSure advanced laser produces short pulses of intense light that pass through the top layers of skin and are received by the tattoo pigments below. The laser literally blasts the ink and causes the tattoo pigment to break apart into smaller particles. This is when your body goes to work for you, as cells recognize the ink as foreign particles and begin to absorb them so they can be removed by the body’s own immune system.
During the procedure, cool air is aimed directly at your skin to provide maximum comfort throughout the short treatment time. Each session is usually less than a minute, depending on the size of the tattoo. Remember, the process is not immediate. Typical treatment schedules can range from 5-15 treatments with 6 weeks absorption/healing time between each appointment. Every procedure fragments the ink a little bit more by penetrating deeper into the skin. We allow time between procedures so your body can naturally remove the pigment.
Yes, old, dark tattoos with deep, difficult colors, like blues and greens, used to pose a challenge. However, there’s never been a better time to take on these stubborn tattoos than right now. A recent study by a leading laser and skin surgery clinic in New York showed that PicoSure’s revolutionary picosecond technology more effectively targets blue and green pigment, which is typically more difficult to remove. The results of the study demonstrated, on average, 94% tattoo clearance was achieved for blue and green ink.
Recovery time following tattoo removal treatment depends, in part, on the color of the ink and the skin color of the patient treated. Compared to any of the older tattoo removal techniques, the recovery time following treatment with the PicoSure is faster — typically about seven days, due to less collateral injury of surrounding tissues.
The REALLY good news: tattoo removal treatment using PicoSure is faster and more effective than older treatments — which means fewer sessions overall! Numbing is included in the price of the treatment.
