Rosacea in Adrian, MI

What Is Rosacea?

Rosacea, a skin condition that causes the skin to look inflamed and red, is usually presented around the nose and cheeks. It is often mistaken for other skin conditions but can be treated and managed if diagnosed properly. Desjarlais Dermatology & Aesthetic Center in Adrian, MI offers several innovative solutions, such as laser treatment with Lutronic DermaV™, to lighten skin and decrease the symptoms of this chronic disease. Using controlled heating, DermaV’s laser energy targets the unwanted pigment and protects the skin's top layers with patented cooling technology.

Rosacea can occur in almost anybody, but it's most common among middle-aged older women with fair skin. Rosacea is a skin condition with no true cure, but it may be managed. When left untreated, it may worsen over the years, causing symptoms to return and flare up for weeks and weeks. Our medical care team will assess your skin for symptoms and create a personalized treatment plan to keep the symptoms at a minimum.

How Can I Manage Rosacea?

Though there's not currently a cure for rosacea, there are a number of treatment choices available, such as antibiotics that assist with inflammation. You can use the medicine in capsule form or as a cream, lotion, or gel. Pills tend to be much more successful in the short term but can trigger more side effects. If antibiotics are not effective, acne drugs, like isotretinoin, have been shown to work for some patients. Surgery may be needed in circumstances where the symptoms become permanent, like enlarged blood vessels or discoloration that won't respond to any other treatments. Laser surgery or electrosurgery may be chosen to reduce the appearance of blood vessels and remove excess tissue buildup across the nose. At Desjarlais Dermatology & Aesthetic Center, our team employs Lutronic DermaV to help treat rosacea and broken capillaries.
